Google Operators: add-ons to your search terms that will help to narrow your results:
Google operator
Function of search
Adding quotation marks to your search term such as "that was easy"
Allows you to search for a site that includes those specific words in the order that they appear inside the quotes. Search results will only include those sites with an exact match of the word or phrase. Good for searching information such as song lyrics or quotes made by famous people but it may also exclude pertinent sites that contain relevant information
Using a "-" in order to avoid or exclude information containing certain words
Helps to narrow a search to just those sites that excludes a double meaning or that does NOT include a particular idea. For example, to search for a pizza recipe that doesn't include cheese, enter search term: pizza recipe -cheese
Adding site: type such as ":.gov" or ":.org" to search a particular type of site or domain
To find specific information from large government sites or domains.
Adding * as a wildcard search term
Use when you need to fill in a blank; "...served as Speaker of the House for * years."
Adding "OR" to search for a term that may include one or more keywords
Helps to find information that may fit in more than one category. Without the use of "OR" your search will give options for sites that include both options.
